Newborns love tummy time, unfortunately for us that also means holding them for what seems like forever. The solution to both problems can be found in the infant carrier which places a newborn over 8 pounds on your tummy, but also gives you two hand free to do whatever you like. Most infant carriers will allow the baby to face the parent for some cuddle time, and then eventually turn around to see the world. A few, such as those my Ergo Baby and Cybex, can be used on the hip and as backpacks for older children. These manufacturers, as well as offerings from Britax and Phil & Teds, also recognize that dad’s like to tote their child along too, so they make infant carriers with longer straps for us bigger guys. For hands free parenting, there is nothing better than a good infant carrier.
