Booster Car Seats |
| The last seat your child will generally use is the belt positioning booster and as the name implies, it’s job is to position the vehicle’s belts and the child so that they fit each other properly. A child will not fit the vehicle’s restraint system until they are at least 57 inches tall. Not fitting the vehicle’s belts will cause the lap belt to ride up on the stomach or the shoulder belt to be ill fitting or not used. The belt positioning booster adjusts the belts so that they fit your child properly, thus protecting them in a crash. The seat will also provide all the side impact protection as well as providing a place to lay their heads when sleeping on a trip. Britax and Diono make excellent booster seats that utilize the lower anchors of the vehicle’s LATCH system , thus improving crash performance. There are 36 states that have booster seat laws, so using one of these seats is very often mandatory, but beyond your legal obligation, putting your child in a booster seat and using it properly will make all the difference in a crash.
